The History:

John II Casimir, known in Poland as Jan Kazimierz, was King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania, Duke of Opole in Upper Silesia, and titular King of Sweden. Unfriendly and secretive, he showed disregard and contempt for Polish culture, divided his time between lavish partying and religious contemplation, and had few friends among the Polish nobility. After his father Sigismund was deposed as King of Sweden in 1599 by his uncle, the Polish kings of the House of Vasa retained their claimed the Swedish throne, leading to the Polish-Swedish War of 1600 - 1629. The feud continued through the Thirty Years' War, and the Russo-Polish war. During the "Swedish Deluge" nearly all of Poland was captured. In 1660, John was forced to renounce his claim to the Swedish throne. The Swedes were forced to retreat but had devastated the entire country. On 16 Sep 1668, John II Casimir abdicated the Polish-Lithuanian throne, joined the Jesuits and became abbot of Abbey of Saint-Germain-des-Prés in Paris. He died in 1672.

Forgeries are common, it's no longer restricted to high value coins. I have several coins from the Polish Lithuania Commonwealth, Riga, Swedish occupation coins, including a few of John Casimir II. None as well struck as this one though, if I didn't already have an acceptable example I'd be bidding. I don't see anything to suggest this coin is a fake, the seller has a well established and deserved reputation and he has even outlined the provenance of the piece. If anyone is so paranoid about getting a forgery either learn how to spot them or collect Beanie Babies.

One thing I had mentioned before, as I said, thousands upon thousands of forgeries have been sold across Europe for centuries to travelers and tourists, that's one of the reasons you have to be so careful with ancient currency not only on that continent, but in that entire area.

Keep it up and you will be blocked. I have told you what it is and exactly how it was found..it is clearly not a bottle cap. At this point I think you are trying to talk down a really great piece. If any other of my collector friends could back me up that would be great. I think this guy should be flagged for doing this to my auction.

In other words, I'm asking if you've tried to have it authenticated, I had that issue with a coin from the time of Antony and Cleopatra, thought I struck it, because it would've been worth quite a bit, but it's actually an OLD forgery, probably made from another old coin.

Still cool, but still not worth anywhere near as much, and a lot of people in European countries for the last few centuries have been passing off forgeries to tourists and travelers.

It would be highly unlikely for these to be counterfeited as they are not extremely rare. Besides that copy coins are easy to identify if you look hard enough.

I have been a proper Numismatist for more years than I care to count. I cannot see the coin and hold it, however these coins are rare & it is my opinion of a Numismatic appraiser that this coin is:
1). 1668 Medieval Poland Coin
Obverse is John II Casimir Vasa, 1648 - 1668
Reverse is Soldier riding a steed with sword in hand

These things are difficult to see unless you have the correct software to see them with.

The outlined provenance helps with the sale.
I have been grading coins for almost 30yrs ~ I would stake my reputation on this coin being real. I have a very good reputation when it comes to coins and gemstones.
Have a good day today & A better day tomorrow.

I have flagged sdh. :D
