Questions & Comments
These are in fact 10% silver, i do not know the total weight of the coin off hand, but i would be willing to bet this thing has a comparable amount of total silver weight to a mercury dime. It would be a interesting thing to research, either way, its a cool looking coin, but with a low overall silver content
I tried to include as much verifiable information as I can; not sure where the trolls are getting their info. While the silver content may low, it is a chunky little piece...and I've always found edge lettering cool. :-)
I always thought these had between 16 & 26% silver but have been told both or actually all 3 but at least they are very cool coins I do like these pesos !!
Yeah, I heard similar conflicting silver percentages but, when I did my own research, everything came in at 10%. The edge lettering is cool, and very underutilized on most modern coinage, not that it was ever used a great deal. I regret only I wasn't able to get a decent picture illustrating it.
I also managed to pick up two (2) from 1959, though in a little more "well circulated" condition than this one. ;-)
Thank you. :-) By the lack of response (from the Troll) to the issue, I figured it was the case. I find it (rather) baffling that Listia would permit such (continued) actions of a member without any kind of consequences.
