Hi, I spent a lot of time at Coki beach long before it was a resort. The history of the development is not pretty.

Years ago I was told that the woman who owned the land passed it to her children. The original owner was a plantation owner and he gave the land to a slave of his. It passed through her family and when developers wanted it they wrangled it from her descendant through the island courts because there was no formal deed, only the island history of its ownership. I last heard the descendants did not share in the profits of the land deal. Sad.
