The listing, Rare Errors! 2014 Topps unique 3 card consecutive printing errors has ended.
This is a series of 3 cards all affected by the same printing error. The odds of finding these cards in succession in a pack or being able to match printing errors is rare.
Printing errors are an interesting aspect of card collecting. Some cards are accidentally printed with blank backs or fronts, or are skipped by foil inlayers. There are cards in which the front and back do not match, etc, each of which has a core of collectors who chase them.
Printing errors are not extremely rare in 2014 Topps, however this is a series of 3 cards which contain an ink skip that runs the duration of the three cards. It's ONE error which affects THREE cards. Because of collation machines used by Topps, which shuffle the cards before wrapping them, the odds of these three cards staying together and appearing consecutively in a pack of cards is highly unlikely. I've been busting packs for 30 years and this is the first time I have seen this anomaly.
While I do not know how likely this is to become a "valuable" error (could be? Maybe I should have tried this on Ebay?), it is something that can be seen as unique and for that reason would make a cool addition for a collector of unique or rare sports cards, as no one else will have this series of errors.
The cards affected, left to right:
JOSH RUTLEDGE (Rockies)
NORICHIKA AOKI (KC Royals)
CHRISTIAN YELICH (Marlins) - All Star Rookie
