It should work - as long as your printer is not too out-of-date. Anyway, check your printer's manual - it should tell you how to position the photo paper, and by the way, you may need to be prepared to waste couple of photo paper for trial.(one way to do that is to cut some normal paper in 4x6" size for trial).

It prints pictures..I have printed some before and it's up to date is a pixma all in one...

I have a Canon Pixma too, so it should work. Did you check then manual? My canon manual has a section telling you how to position your photo paper.
