The listing, Hand carved Abalone Cameo in a plated setting with (lab) Fire Topaz accents ~ 28" Chain ~ NEW!! has ended.

Now this is a unique Cameo. It is actually hand carved from one piece of Abalone. The setting is stamped 925, however, I tested it and it is plated. The pretty Fire Topaz accent stones are lab created. The pendant measures 3" x 1.75" and is on a 28" silver plated chain.
This would look wonderful with almost anything!

Abalone is very difficult to carve. Must be carved underwater. The dust from it is horrible on your lungs.

I have one similar and although nobody in our family carves cameos, most of us either carve now or at one time using different materials. My husband still carves. I had to stop due to MS making my hands shaky and optic neuritis. Carvers on both sides of our family, including one of the best known master carvers in the United States, famous for carving totem poles. The most famous was Healing Heart in memory of all the young people who have died of drugs or alcohol in Alaska. I carved everything from wood to stone. Cannot cut or carve safely now.

That is quite a history of Artisans. I am sorry you are dealing with MS..My beautiful daughter had it also. Her's progressed fairly rapidly and we lost her 2/23/2010. Hang on to the fact that you are an artist, perhaps not active now, but, that your history lies in the work you have done!

This is gorgeous!! I was about to list a Abalone Pendant and saw this, but mine is beautiful but not carved! I have always been fascinate with cameos.....Mom used to wear them a lot and I have one she gave me carved out of real gold.....WATCHING! Thinking of it on a Sterling right at the neckline...MY Friend you out did yourself again!!! Might get this for my Mom, ,she has given me some awesome quality things to auction!

I am sorry for the loss of your daughter. We lost both of our daughters. The first died at 20 after fighting Glioma brain cancer for 2 years of surgery, radiation and chemo. Our second we lost in 2011 from a massive heart attack. She left 4 children behind and we have not seen them since her death. Her husband started dating a couple weeks after the funeral and has since remarried. They got to Heaven before us. We love and miss them every day, but we know they are safe from harm in God's hands. I was hospitalized with MS 18 yrs. ago and our youngest daughter was hospitalized the next day after passing out in college. We are happy, because my husband and I trust in our Lord.

Oh my..you have had your trials. I am sorry you had to endure so much, but with God we can stand against anything. My daughters husband brought his girlfriend to the Funeral services. At least they sat at the back.. :(
I hope your MS is at least stable now.
