Description

The listing, Izze & co. - 'The Triskele' Hand Beaded Bracelet and Earring Set has ended.

The Triskele or Triple Spiral is a complex Celtic symbol – the triskele, also referred to as a triskelion is one of the most confusing to decipher as symbolists believe it is reflective of many areas.

Firstly, the triskele can be thought to represent motions, as all three arms are positioned to make it appear as if it is moving, and movement or motion is believed to signify energy, in particular within this Celtic Symbol the motion of action.

Secondly, and the more challenging area for symbolist is the exact symbolic significance of the three arms of the triskele, which can differ dependent on the culture, mythology or history. This is why there are so many variations as to what these three extensions in the triskele symbol mean: Some of these connotations include: life-death-rebirth, spirit-mind-body, mother-father-child, past-present-future and creation-preservation-destruction to name a few.

It’s thought that through the combination of these two areas we gain one meaning of the Celtic triskele; a tale of forward motion to reach understanding. However this is thought not to be the only meaning, as it is also believed to represent three Celtic worlds; the spiritual world, the present world, the celestial world.

The meaning of the triskele is diverse, varied and has many possibilities and although this Celtic symbol is far more complex than many others it is still one that has much prominence in our modern day jewelry.

This set is made with paper beads and glass beads. Paper beads were made by myself with black and white printed scrapbook paper and sealed. Spirals were also made by me. Bracelet measures 8 inches. Colors: Black, White, Silver and grey. Same Izze & co. quality and attention to detail.
