Is there a problem with the charger? Have you tried to sync the ipod with a different cable?

Maybe it is the charger, this is the only cable I have though. Plus I have another ipod so the winner can experiment.

The same thing happened to mine, it ended up being the charger, you can get a usb adapter for it for $1.25 shipped from amazon in you are the winner... good luck all!
