Perennial grows in zones 5-9. This vine almost growers itself but be careful it spreads really easy by its seeds. Humming birds, bees, butterflies all love the red bloom on this vine. Full sun to partial shade. I would not plant close to any structure. This is bare rooted so soak the roots for several hours and then plant at previous depth. Can be pruned in spring or fall.

Can you plant them in a hanging basket? How big does it get?

I guess you could if there was also something for it to climb on after hanging down from the pot. This will probably grow 15-20 foot. It's not something that I would do but that's only because I haven't tried it.
