Excellent item!!! I think this is one of the most stunning representations of Nomadic tribal wear I have seen in a long time. If it is a knock off it is STUNNING! The only way it would be a "knock off" is if it is Alpaca silver made in Mexico or Thiland...btu i am sure this is not. This looks to be made by skilled craftsmen of Badakhshan in Afghanistan. They loved using blue lapis as it was plentiful in that region at the time. I have featured your auction on my auction titled: "What Cha Talkin' Bout?" Flate Rate Mystery Box List YOUR Auctions >> HERE << I don't know why because I want to win this...lol. I wish you the best and welcome to Listia!

I was thinking that it looked old, really old. The shepherd's hook for the closure is what was used in vintage items and with the patina it has, the look of the metal, etc..it looks at least vintage if not older. Hard to say from just pictures, though. And of course you can buy those closures anywhere nowadays. The chain actually looks newer than the pendant.

When you say barn sale, did they give you any history behind the piece? I love it, it's unique and very interesting!

what is a vintage all i no on my travels i stop places when i felt liuke it just went with my heart always. one day i saw this old barn with this old farmer out side setting so i stop and said hi are you having a barn sale he said yes. i said ok ill look but i dont have npo room in my car for any cows he laugh. so as i was looking around i saw this old dresser i went to open one of the drawers and it got stock. so9 i reach my hand in side under neioth and i felt something there and it was this neckless and a strange ring. i said sir i want the little dresser and it will fit in trunk. i almost got a chicken to but did not, but anyway i told him about the neckless and ring he said you no what little lady some people would of never said nothing about that. i said thats ok i was just byeing the dresser but i keep feeling drawn to it. then he said you no what it seems they was ment for you. i said yes that happens to me alot, drawn to things irt comes my way then i no when to let it go. so thgats the story of the neckless and the ring, i try to put the ring on here alsao but i could not get the pictures to go on. the ring is even more diffrentr for sure. you cant miss the stone on the ring its big and purple. but it dont look like they came from the same place. but im not sure what to do with the ring yet,

looks like vintage Kuchi Tribal jewelry, or Afghani jewelry. I love it! Very nice.
And the stone looks like lapis lazuli- the middle eastern tribes use it alot in their jewelry, which they create by melting down coins, pouring, molding it, hammering it out, etc. So it's in all likelihood made of silver alloy.

The lapis lazuli stone's gold flecks are pyrite. Found this info online: "Lapis lazuli is an opaque gem stone that may range in color from brilliant, to medium royal, to dark blue. Its composition consists of a mixture of several different minerals including, the predominance of lazurite (25-40%), hüaynite, sodalite, noselite, calcite and pyrite. Small amounts of diopside, augite, mica and hornblende may also be present. Lapis lazuli generally occurs in crystalline limestone as the result of contact metamorphism.

Lapis lazuli gets its brilliant blue color from its sulfur content. The more evenly the color is distributed throughout the stone, the higher the quality, and the greater the value. Lapis generally occurs with a speckled and strained consistency, with glittering inclusions of iron pyrite. If the pyrite is well distributed, the stones beauty may be enhanced adding to its genuineness."

Is the lower part of the necklace missing a stone? Those three posts, and the shiner spot surrounding the middle makes it look like it had a stone that was shaped like those on the chain, but turned the opposite direction...? Can you tell what I mean?
