Here's your chance to own a piece of history, or some silver! One Walking Liberty fifty cent piece. I think back to a time when people regularly used half dollars to buy things - think of the places and things this old coin has seen!

Hi. Look closely at the scans. You can see part of a date on the front of the coin near the bottom, but I'm not a coin collector, so I'm not going to venture a guess as to what date that might be. I'll let you look and decide. I know that Walking Liberties were made during certain years.

Walking liberty halves were minted from 1916-1947 so with the last two numbers visable at "20" that would make this a 1920 Walking Liberty

I know that the price of silver has skyrocketed. This coin is 90% silver, 10% copper. One website says the Walking Liberty had a total weight of 12.5 grams. That would put this coin's melt value at about 17.00 dollars, according to what I read. Coin collectors out there - correct me if that's not right.

I think I just like the coin, because the eagle reminds me of the mother eagle who's raising three eagles in front of a camera here in Iowa! Just saw her sitting like this on the nest!

Yep, it goes up and down daily, but the trend has been upward as the dollar trend down in value. Same with almost all the commodities.
