Description

The listing, REALLY COOL CHUNK OF "AMBER"! WITH INSECTS INSIDE!! has ended.

The first two photos came out sideways! I hope you are able to see the small insects inside as the "stone" formed. I usually sell things like this, and I am experimenting by listing it here, and seeing how it does. I think that some talented jewelry maker could make something really cool out of it. I have used things like this to put in my succulent arrangements. This was sort of too expensive to use for that, especially if the person does not know how amber is formed.
One thing I would like to emphasize: I no longer have the container and label that came with this. (Someone at one of my sales took it out and apparently took the bag). If there are people out there who believe this to be something other than amber, PLEASE don't hesitate to (politely) suggest what it is. I do not want a dispute after the auction is over and the item is sent. Hence, I put the word "amber" in quotes, meaning that this is a pretty formation with real insects inside and my best guess is that it is amber. I am not an expert, so if you win, you may not dispute the auction if it is not amber, since I have made it clear that I am not sure. I bought it in a nice store where I have purchased many other gems and stones. Free Shipping in US only, and HAPPY BIDDING!!!!

Apparently the insects are not really distinguishable in these photos, but they are when you look at the stone in real life. I am not a great photographer.....

Siri, this looks like real amber. Not all of it has insects, but It makes it neat for collecting. Someone could probably make a pendant out of it.

Thanks, Linda. I do think it's amber. I just wanted to cover myself because I do not want a dispute afterwards. But you can clearly see the insects in it. It's cool. Are there drills that jewelry people use to make things into pendants? Or would they attach a hook? And how do they do that; I have always wondered....
PS Did I tell you that my friend fixed that blue bracelet, the one with the lock and key clasp? I have been happily wearing it. She also fixed another bracelet made by a listian who makes pretty things and she said she had done something backwards. But the blue one was clearly made by a professional ;)

very interesting! this would be neat for someone that collects rocks or fossils, or someone who can make it into a pendant

I know; it's actually cooler in real life because the photos aren't that good. I originally got it because when I make succulent arrangements I like to think of their essence when I make them. Anyway my neighbor was not a very nice person but I was trying to be nice to her because she was so awful. So I was going to put that in her arrangement because her name is Amber! At the end I decided she didn't deserve it, but I did give her the plants. I guess you didn't expect such a long story, huh?
I will try to find something Japanese and list it for you, lol.

My kids would find this fun and interesting. How big is it?

From the two longest points, it's 2 inches. It really is interesting because you can see the insects clearly and it's interesting to learn how amber is formed.

hey Siri, I just dug up a bunch of quartz yesterday think I should list it?
Apr 24th, 2011 at 5:34:51 AM PDT by

Yes!! I think it's really cool that you can distinguish quartz from something else... I have to admit that I could not. There is not enough time in this life to learn as much as I would like to.... What does it look like? Were you gardening?

The person that owned this house before me was obviously a collector becuase there was a ton of interesting rocks some cut t be used as jewelry left here. I was lookng for rocks up by the mountains. There's different looks to quartz, sometimes it is very clear (like a crystal) sometimes milkier , and sometimes it has a color hue like pink.

Is that rose quartz?

i think so, wish I would have met the person that left their collection here they could have taught me a lot.

There's always more to learn, but it sounds like you know quite a bit. I think it was Einstein who said "The more I learn, the more I know very little". (or something like that).
I have always been drawn to rose quartz.... cool to find stuff like that in your yard....
I had no idea this auction would be so popular.
I'm trying to price vintage things for a garage sale as well as stuff for my parents and I have no idea what material some things are- e.g. tin, brass, etc., and what it would or should be worth....

So am I. It is a cool piece. Too cool to just put in a succulent arrangement, and I still don't know how to make jewelry. Although it would be an awesome pendant.....

glad you got my bracelet fixed and enjoy wearing it. I had a beautiful blue jade necklace and earring set I made that someone won this weekend. Hope they love it, too.

Your bracelet was well-made; I was foolish and was sleeping with it on and I think I got it caught on something. I do enjoy it; it reminds me of you :)
My friend that fixed it is actually a listia member, but she rarely gets on. I was chuckling because I saw that her fan base has increased due to the fanning craze that has been going on. I told her and she had no idea how to tell who her fans are. LOL.... I guess she has a life. She said that the other thing she fixed was done backwards and she had to re-do the end of it. Very pretty, though.
