THE PLAYER:
Mabry batted .307 in 129 games as a rookie in 1995, good enough to place him high in Rookie of the Year voting. A year later, he would bat .297 with 74 RBI for the Cardinals; unfortunately, he would get bumped from his position at first base as the Cardinals acquired Mark McGwire, sending Mabry to a join the logjam in the St Louis outfield. He left St Louis for the 1999 season, but came back to the Cards for a short stint in 2001 and again 2004 and 2005. Mabry played through 2007, having played 8 of his 14 seasons in St Louis.
