Description

The listing, Introduction To Stamp Collecting, Aug. 1979 has ended.

This 23 page black & white booklet was published in August 1979 by the United States Postal Service and was given to me as a child when I became a member of the Benjamin Franklin Stamp Club in elementary school. I wrote my name on the front and back and added a notation to page 15 (in my grade school printing), and the book is bit yellowed with age, but very well kept and not torn or creased. I hope you enjoy this piece of my childhood. :-)

Thanks, Fat Tony! I'm a visual artist, and if I make a name for myself in the art world, my elementary school autograph on this might be valuable! :-) Do you collect stamps?

No, I graduated from Boyertown Senior High in 1989. I do Modern Art of the Abstract Expressionist sort, make nature-inspired jewelry, and photograph nature. You can see my work on my website: http://www.tarasbazaar.com/
There is also a link to Listia on my FREE STUFF! page. ;-)

I think the Benjamin Franklin Stamp Club was probably brought to a lot of elementary schools at the time. I wonder about the history of it, and if it still exists. I'll have to see if Wiki knows.

I wonder if it is a continuation of the same club. It could be.

I do collect Tara. Thats great, I'm a fan of artists of any type. My latest attempts at art have been with my Cannon T1i. :) But back in the day you couldn't pry my guitar from my hands unless you replaced it with a banjo or mandolin or any other instrument.asside from the history involved in stamp, coin and currency collecting I would say my favorite thing is the art involved. another great lot as I said before. Hope to see more and good luck with your art work.

I have a trumpet I need someone to teach me to play. I like straight-ahead jazz and avant-garde classical. one of my favorite sculptures is Umberto Boccioni's Unique Forms of Dynasim in Space. Are you familiar with the work?
