Questions & Comments
That black/brown/yellow block of stamps is one of the more interesting stamps of our life times! That's the Dag Hammarskjöld (4-cent) "invert" error of the issue of October 23, 1962, showing the yellow background printed upside-down relative to the image and text. It was called "Day's Folly" after Postmaster General J. Edward Day who ordered the intentional reprinting once the error was discovered. (Party Pooper!) He created a special reprinting (November 16th) of the error to prevent causing a "rarity" and thus people from profiting from the U.S. Postal Service. About 40 million of the "invert" were printed versus the 120 million of the normal ones. So, they are still a bit more rare than the normal one. This "invert" is listed as Scott #1204. [The "normal" stamp is Scott #1203]
Just thought somebody out there might like to know about that....
Hey, if it promotes some interest, I like sharing all that stuff. But, if you guys prefer, I'll can just drop by and say "Nice", or something equally simple." I'll leave that up to you to tell me to stop or not, okay?
I wish I had limitless credits -- I'm frequently being out-bid by Doodlebug and SnailMailGalPla!
Hey, I like your comments. They not only generate interest, but they are also ACTUAL comments.....instead of "nice", "cool', or...the thing that irritates me the most..."fanned you...fan me back". That REALLY, REALLY bugs me! It has NOTHING to do with a question or comment...or anything else, for that matter. This sudden "fanning" business is ridiculous. I think a fan should be EARNED with good items listed, good service and quick shipping. I think I have around 500 fans....and I've NEVER asked anyone to fan me. I don't know how this "fan me" junk got started, but I'm not going to play the game any more.
