Description

The listing, 72+ Open Pollinated Heirloom Hot Lemon(Lemon Drop) Pepper seeds has ended.

This auction is for 72+ Open Pollinated Heirloom Hot Lemon Pepper(also known as Lemon Drop) seeds from our 2013 harvest. These three to four inch long peppers turn a bright yellow when ripe and can be extremely hot if the plant is stressed. Otherwise they are about as hot as a cayenne and make a great addition to sauces, salsas, Asian and Indian dishes with their citrus-like flavor. They are also wonderful pickled!

Germination tests on our farm have given a rate of roughly 84%, so I put two to three seeds per cell(or peat moss pot) to ensure at least one transplant per cell. This package contains at least enough seeds to sow two seeds per cell in an 36 cell peat pellet greenhouse.

GROWING INSTRUCTIONS: Start your transplants at least six to eight weeks before you plan to put them outside, with a good week or two of hardening off on top of that before you put them in the ground. They do need full sun and plenty of water. Caging or staking may be needed due to the abundance of fruits, but be careful as the stems can be fragile. They begin producing fruit in about eighty to a hundred days from transplant and will continue producing, as long as you continue harvesting, until the frost or something else kills the plant.

The seeds are in gorgeous condition and will be shipped wrapped in bubble wrap. The envelope will be labeled "Fragile: Hand Cancel Only! Do not machine!" on the front and "Hot Lemon Pepper" on the back. Happy bidding!

You could, but putting them in potting medium with a little bit of heat(like a sunny window) would do the same thing and you wouldn't need to transfer the fragile seedlings from the paper towel that way.
