The listing, Ethiopian Opal and Sterling Ring - size 7 - Rough Handcrafted Artisan has ended.

Up for offer is another of my handcrafted creations.(I am an Etsy Jeweler) An amazing rough Ethiopian opal chunk is set on a thin sterling silver band.The stone flashes brilliant neon greens and red the most, but does have all colors of the rainbow. It is even flashier in person. The ring is a size 7. It's setting is super secure so the stone will NOT fall out, however due to the delicate nature of the stone (I didn't want to crack it) it does move a little in it's setting... but the wires holding it are so well shaped there is NO WAY that stone is going any where. This is a one of a kind ring, and a truly one of a kind listia listing... you will not find another like this on listia, let alone any other auction sites.

Just to note, band is not stamped as it mars the design, but as I made it I fully guarantee it's authenticity, as well as the authenticity of the stone.

Lovely and unique piece. How is the stability of Ethiopian opal compared to Australian opal? I use to do lapidary work and cut many opals but none from Ethiopia. F&W.

I haven't actually cut any myself. The rough ones I got just for this purpose, wrapping. But from the little I do know about them they seem to be more stable. They don't dry out and crack like Australian opals, as they form differently. Really amazing stones, and still undervalued as they are a relatively new find as far as stones go.The Welo province opals were discovered in 2008. I personally think they have better fire than Australian opals too, but I'm biased. I just love opals, easily my favorite stone.

I do believe I could probably make it about one size bigger, just a half size would be even easier. It would be the best is I don't have to stretch it. Sorry I'm leaving the days for everyone watching... Good luck
