Ty, always happy to meet another shepherd lover! (esp. one who spells shepherd right! lol) For the past 8+ years I've volunteered for Coastal German Shepherd Rescue. We place 350-400 dogs/year in new homes (after application process/home visit/shots, etc) that we rescued from high-kill shelters all over Southern California. Check out www.coastalgsr.org sometime & our FB page has some hilarious talking shepherd videos we've posted of some of our available orphans! Sorry...tmi... it's just something I'm very passionate about! ;D
No problem at all. My family will be looking for a shepherd in the near future. I will make sure to check out your site. Thank you for all you do :) I had to give up my shepherd (my baby) three years ago. It broke my heart, but there was a caring person like your self who helped me get her adopted to a good home where she was trained to help the disabled. You guys are very much needed :)
Oh that must have been impossibly hard to give her up. I actually have 4 now, 2 of the ones in the pic, (the black & tan Molly & the silver & gray Missy) I lost almost exactly 2 years ago and I can just now talk about them a little. They were both 10 yrs old, had grown up together and we'd had them since they were 4 months old. I lost them 2 weeks apart to 2 different kinds of cancer. I'll be broken-hearted the rest of my life :( Of course Houdini, Miller & Kingsley joined us shortly thereafter so Maxxy would have some company after losing her sisters so suddenly. They keep me pretty busy too!
So sorry to hear about your loss with your other shepherds. I.m sure although a painful experience- it helped you to have great compassion for others/pets :)
