For your consideration is this very old and very intricate skeleton key. By intricate I mean the attention to detail of the grooves and ridges cut into this key. This key must have went to a lock that was used keep something of great value safe. The lock itself, must have been intricate as well. Wish I had that to go along with the key. As you can see, the key measures 3 inches long. At the business end ( the part that enters the lock ) is 1 inch wide by 1/4 inch thick. The hoop end of the key is 1-1/4 inch wide. The key is quite heavy and in very good condition.
