Attractive to bees, butterflies and/or birds. Drought-tolerant; suitable for xeriscaping. Self-sows freely; deadhead if you do not want volunteer seedlings next season. Flowers are good for cutting, drying and preserving.
Flower bract traditionally used by the Hopis to make a food dye to color their ceremonial piki bread.
