If you are going lighter you can use vol 10,20,30,40 depending on how light you want to go(10 mostly deposits, 20 is what is packaged in boxed kits, 30 takes it up about 4-5 shades and 40 lifts the most between 6-7 shades.. its normally 2 oz developer needed :)

Thank you so much for the info. The only thing I have ever used at home are the store bought, "wash out" colors, I think they are supposed to wash out in a certain # of shampoos?! What is a Toner, as someone above mentioned? And does this have info on how to use it? A toner? Thanks!
