This is the 2nd Generation Amazon Kindle. It has a kindle store that you can buy books from through your Amazon account. With the Wireless turned on, you can get up to 2 weeks of reading on it on a single charge. With the Wireless turned off, you can get up to 4 weeks of reading on a single charge. If all you want to do is read, then this is for you. It does not turn off, but it goes into sleep mode when you use the slide button at the top. It also has text to speech, so it can read to you if you'd like. You can hook it up to a PC & download music onto it that you can listen too while reading. It does have a headphone jack.
