That said, I have a huge personal collection of paper dolls that I'd like to share with fellow Listians and have a legal right to do so.. :) I have many many sets in my collection that ARE pre-dated before 1923 and therefore I can legally offer copies here on Listia. :)

In the past, many companies promoted their products with ads that featured paper dolls. The Nonesuch New England Mincemeat Company offered paper dolls as a premium in the late 1800's. The paper dolls featured 1 head/torso and 2 costumes of 2 diferent cultures. To receive each doll "back in 1895 the buyer had to first buy five packages of None Such New England Mince Meat and cut the heads off the woman holding a pie on the package. They were then supposed to send 10 cents in silver along with the heads. If they didn't have the 10 cents, which was apparently the shipping charge, they could cut off 20 heads and get it for free. :)

There were 5 dolls. I've personally only been able to find 4. You will receive the American French Doll, the German Swiss doll [pictured], the Japanese Chinese Doll, and the Turkish Indian Doll.

Dolls are beautiful with vibrant colors. :)
