Linux being a free and open source operating system there's no proprietary hurdles to leap, I'm just realizing that not every one can deal with ISO files and get them burnt correctly. Excellent way for novice's to try Linux and put Windows in the trash where it belongs.
this OS offer more software than you get with any windows package. you'll have everything you need. disc encryption, office programs that are compatible with windows office, they pick up all the current drivers for anything you got automatically!!!, More security, more support from live people than you could ever imagine from Microsoft. You really want to try this and see what the open source community has built for you. So your used to windows and afraid of change, get over your fear, and try it. you will not regret this, and you will never feel more secure, or safe from virus's and malware. this is secure, secure, secure. there is a rebelion against status quo, and microsoft is the status quo. join the rebelion, and never look back.
this operating system can run side by side with your current windows, run solo right off the DVD for you to try it first and not bother your current operating system. or can be selected to format the hard drive for a clean install.
If you've not ever tried a Linux operating system, think smart phone. it's a lot similar, except you can run most but not quite all windows programs on them, and is fairly easy to master.
please specify 32 or 64 bit OS

Is this the only one you have? I only ask because right now all my credits are tied up on a tablet. I have heard of the Linux os and all I have heard is good. I hate MS but never realized there was anything to beat them. I have a couple of auctions up now but won't be done till this one is over. F&W

I burn the DVD, CD specific to your needs. Linux Ubuntu 13.10 being the most popular, Kubuntu 13.10(my fav) a very close second. I hate everything MS as well. LOL. I haven't failed any one yet. (cross fingers). but I can taylor your disc for any machine your on. even if it's a mac. or an older PC that only has a CD-rom. there is Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Lubuntu and several others. and what you hear is correct, it's an awesome OS, and won't fail you, and I guarantee it will work. as far as your question about "is it the only one I got". no it's not. I just ordered a spindle of 100 gold DVD's and 30 CD's that are laser etchable for the labels for a real professional look and function. guaranteed to work for you. whatevfer it takes, I won't fail you. You'll have a smooth running computer even if i have to talk you through it to get it. but it's really not that hard to master.

I have a Compaq Presario CQ57 It is not brand new but not really old. I am running Windows 7 and it has gotten so slow that I have to clean the cache at least once every 2 or 3 days. I am pretty good at installing if I have good directions. What I read sounds pretty simple. U can go to muy page and pm me thanks for all the info.
