Description

The listing, Motorola Droid X - Flashed & Rooted READ DESCRIPTION - Android Smart Phone Verizon Cricket Metropcs has ended.

Everything pictured part of auction:
Droid X
White Droid X soft case
Travel wall charger for droid X battery, and USB charging
Two Droid X batteries

I got this Motorola Droid X (Verizon) from a friend about 3 months ago. At the time, it would not boot up at all, but get stuck at an android guy with a triangle. I brought it back to life by flashing the European android O.S. "Milestone X" to it, wiping it clean. Then I gained root access by using a Linux build made specifically for this phone.
As of now the phone does have two issues, it will only boot after a significant amount of time has passed after it was shut down or battery removed, and both the home screen and search hard keys do not work. I created a substitute home button under the status bar to compensate. I cannot figure out why it does not boot right away after being shut down, but maybe you can? Also, it is currently not connected to any providers. It can easily be flashed over to cricket or metropcs.
As far as hardware, this phone is a monster! An 8 megapixel camera able to shoot in 720p HD, an HDMI output, badass processor, huge screen, etc. It was a $600 phone brand new.
I put a bunch of apps on it, including a snes and gba emulator, proxy, Firefox, etc. No user data what so ever on anything, as I never actually used this phone, all I did was put hours into it so I could auction it off here! So if you want something to fiddle with, or just want to give your daughter or son something they can play pokemon on, this is for you!!!
I realize this auction will bring endless questions, so if you've read this far, I CONGRATULATE YOU! We all know most don't read. lol.
But in any case, ask away. If the answer is in the description, ill simply reply with which paragraph.

I never say good luck, I say GOOD HUNTING! And most importantly, have fun :)

guys Google it.... don't ask questions that's already answered in the description or could be answered on Google and if you got factory reset on a rooted device you will soft brick the phone
Jan 14th, 2014 at 9:26:19 PM PST by
Original
No soft bricking this thing, its already undead lol. The root as far as factory reset is permanent. No soft brick, just a factory droid x that's still rooted. As it is right now, its a machine with a load of great apps and no user data on any. It's up to the winner how they want it. Good hunting :)

So If you set the phone to factory default would it be unrooted? Lets just say I want to put the phone on cricket and when it's unlocked how could you put service on the phone?
Jan 14th, 2014 at 6:57:20 PM PST by
Original
The root was done through linux, and this root will still be there after factory reset, because I've done it. If you want to know what company you can put this phone on, call them with the meid and ask, that way you'll get a difinitive answer.

Rooting actually has nothing to do with whether or not a handset can be activated. Rooting simply allows the operating system (android) to use all of the handsets capabilities, like turning your phone into a mobile hotspot. A flashed kernel is all it takes. This particular root uses SuperUser. Research it all you like. This phone CAN be activated. In fact, I've never heard of any phone not able to be activated simply because its rooted; and I'm no genius, but when it comes to these devices, I'm no slouch. Leaving comments is fine, just make sure your information is accurate before posting on my auctions, or I will correct you. Thank you!

you can't I mean
Jan 14th, 2014 at 11:53:15 AM PST by
Original
Actually, you can. It is not running the droid x version of android, but the Milestone X, which is the European version of this phone. It is completely unlocked, as listed in the description. Anyone with questions about this device can look it up on xdadevelopers to see its capabilities. Search Milestone X to jump right to it.

Thank you, and fanned back! This device will definitely run a multitude of games off of google play, as well as game boy advance, and super nintendo games with two of the applications I installed on it. I tested it with Pokemon Fire Red and it worked great! All you need is a micro sd card, found nearly everywhere!

Yes you can, absolutely. But only on a contract plan. If you want prepaid, it can be put on metro pcs or cricket.

A correction to a previous comment: you will need an SD card to play any games off of the two emulator apps (GBA & SNES) but you will NOT need one to download and play games from Google Play. This phone has 8gb of internal storage! That's huge!

As of right now no, the radio is flashed clean. If Verizon accepts unlocked phones it can be switched, but I'm not sure if they do! I know both cricket and MetroPCS do. I'm pretty sure Boost Mobile does. But Verizon and ATT both are not very unlock-friendly, if you get what I'm saying.
