Grand opera …A Treasury of Grand Opera; edited by Henry W. Simon; published by Simon and Schuster, New York; copyright 1946. It is a large softcover book in a matching slipcase, measures approximately 12" x 9" and has 403 pages. It contains the stories described in detail, history and music to Don Giovanni, Lohengrin, La Traviata, Faust, Aida, Carmen and Pagliacci. The piano arrangements are by Albert Sirmay, translations by George Mead and illustrations by Rafaello Busoni. It is a really nice work, very complete with the details of these famous operas, a great item for a musician or opera lover.

I don't remember it smelly musty. I already have it wrapped and ready to go to the winner. A woman recently told me to get rid of the musty smell put your book in plastic and put it in the freezer. When you take it out the smell should be gone. I'm like you I just try to not buy anything like that I don't like smells. One of these days maybe I will try it. I go to estates sells all the time and I am selective about what I buy. What kind of GIN did you have in mind? I'm open.
