Yes, and I have tried it and it restored sterling and plated findings to their clean, original state! The treated jewelry wipes I use to use actully took some of the finish off my old plated ones, trying to get them clean.
This tip was given to me by a "Lifer" in creating jewelry designs.

True, I sent a glass and crystal bracelet to a winner, marked it hand cancel, new girl at post office threw it in regular mail, she apologized later it went thru cancellation machine all smashed upon arrival, I replaced it at great cost to me , silver findings 925 and all.I was so careful to wrap it tightly and bubble envelope, marked it clearly hand cancel, such a shame, love the tip about Chalk, you can keep a silverplated piece in a felt bag , in your jewelry case and it will not tarnish, line drawers with it for silverplated silverware.

I use the "Dry" wipes I get at the jewelry counter at Wally World (Walmart) to clean off tarnish- they work best. But... you can put it in a small bag with 2 pieces of chalk and wait a while! LOL I am not sure how long!

You can use any resealable plastic bag- but smaller, and thicker ones are better- wth the chalk- to be perfectly honest!
