After you have successfully hacked the Wii, you have options of installing the Homebrew Channel and BootMii, i usually don't use BootMii. Install the HB Channel and allow the Wii to reset, and you would need a few more programs to make the Wii most awesome, I have the entire collection if you want them. I can zip it up and send it to you.
I actually softmodded mine as well, but for anyone reading this is really great information. I usually run Dios Mios for GameCube roms and run them off a sd/microsd. Great stuff. I especially like Configurable USB Loader. All the games run great, whereas Metroid Prime 3 runs terribly on Dolphin. Best way to play Twilight Princess with the GC controller without paying first over dollar. Softmodding a Wii pays for the console 10x over; it's great.
I have a ton of emulators - Neo-Geo, et al - however for people who don't know how to softmod a Wii and don't want to pirate games, there's a ton of great games on the virtual console like this. I can't get Ocarina to run well on an emulator with the GameCube controller though; maybe I should finally knuckle down and get a classic controller pro.
To tell you the truth, softmodding a Wii is really very easy. It requires Wii System Menu V 4.3 official Nintendo software of course, HackMii Installer version 1.2 which would go into your root directory of an SD card and Letterbomb, to use Letterbomb, you would have to go to please.hackmii.com and using your MAC address from the Wii, insert that MAC into the given spots, download the software that comes up, it will have your specific MAC embedded in it, take the folder called Private, rename it Private.old and make the Letterbomb folder of Private the new one for now. All of this has to be done on a computer. Now, put the SD card in and access your Wii Messages, and go back a day or two slowly until a read latter pops up, click it and it will activate the Hackmii boot.dol installer file. Will will display a message for 30 seconds and ask you to press 1 or 2, and the hack can begin.
I love Skyward sword, and the day I bought that I knew for certain that I was never giving the game up to anyone. I look forward to the new Wii U Zelda game next year.
Skyward Sword is great. People tend to hold a vigil over their keyboard complaining about the controls but if situated properly they work just fine. Madworld and No More Heroes 2 oddly enough have the best controls on the system, with very innovative uses, and they don't even use Motion +. It's very odd. In the case of Skyward Sword, the sense of whimsy and personality they gave the characters like Zelda is very charming indeed. Reminds me of Wind Waker. The game just has color and is brimming with life, not unlike my other favorite game on the console: Super Mario Galaxy 2. It's worth modding or buying a Wii for those two games alone. My favorite part of Skyward Sword was the shopkeeper who got all excited when he thought you were going to buy an item, then as soon as you walk away he starts getting depressed. Little touches like that are fun. Here's hoping the new look they give Zelda is as good as the one in SS.
