It doesn't need any software. It plugs into mp3 or mp4 or mp5 I think it will plug into just about anything that has a place for an external camera. I had used it at my store to keep an eye on the cash drawer. I had it hooked up to an mp4 player and it was pointed at the cash drawer. Worked great for that, it looks just like a button on a shirt, it fact that is what it is really made for. It fits through the buttonhole on your shirt just like a button and you can have an mp4 in your pocket and record whatever you see without anyone knowing that you are recording them.
