Authentic Antique 18th -19th century Tibetan Tapestry finely painted on cloth. Hand stitched border.
In the original condition, free of repairs or restorations, with an old patina and wear, flakes in the paint some crazing throughout. Notice the exquisite details.
Dimensions: 40" x 30" with the surrounding boarder and the actual paintings about 27" x 21".
Thangkas were scroll paintings used by Nomadic, Monks and Lamas, as teaching aids that brought visualization of the Diety and offered a tool for meditation. Due to the ease of transporting these rolls of Dharma, they were able to enlighten people along their journey.
