This patch represents the National Football League (NFL) shield logo before its makeover. The older design of this patch dates back to the 1940s, and had 25 stars.

There are only 8 stars in the new version of the NFL logo, which represent the eight divisions or sub conferences of the league. It debuted at the NFL draft in April, 2008.
