To redeem the code

1. Sign in to XBOX LIVE account (the one on which you want use this code on)
2. Press central (Guide) button on controller.
3. Go to Marketplace blade and on this blade choose "Redeem Code" option.
4. Enter received 25 digit code and hit the confirm button.
5. On next screen choose confirm.

Why did I get the "invalid code" error when trying to redeem the code?

As stated above the trial codes can be only used on Free (Silver) accounts. They can't be used on a current Gold membership, if you try you will get that error message!

you must verify your account using 1 social network like Facebook or twitter and a phone number i see you have Facebook so just add a phone number for them to verify you with then you should be able to ^^

um silver members/ free is the status your account is in by default if you haven't bought any gold memberships or used any codes then your account is in that status.

these codes all only work on free accounts only as there trials meaning there basically meant to for people to use and try out xbox live and then go buy it however you can use more than 1 code of this type at different times but not all at once as that would waste them since they don't stack and still have gold privileges however this code will not change your silver/free status to gold it will still say free or whatever but you will be able to play games and so on you just cant activate apps that need gold like if you down load Netflix using this code and try to add your account and use it it will not work but you can play games online and all that good stuff and if the app is already on your xbox with your info on it already then it will work you just cant activate them sadly. that and you cant use the cloud game save storage they give gold members to use but other than that its no different than if you were to go buy gold

these are good if you wanna use xbox live to play games online only a few days at a time to save you time and money on buying months or years with most of that you had bought being wasted this way gives you more control to the time you buy id say ^^
