This IS the original as seen on tv brush. It is for course hair. Not for kinky. Would not work on my granddaughter .

I have smokers in my home but they are not allowed to smoke in the home. But I smell smoke on them when they come in the house after smoking. Being honest, your judgement. Thanks for the question. I need start adding that bit of info.

Yes, my opinion course hair is dry tightly curled. My profile picture has the little girl I tried it on. back left. Didn't work.

I have two of these brushes, and they work! My hair is not coarse at all, but gets really tangled because I drive a convertible.
