What you're planning on doing sounds like a great inexpensive idea. :) As far as the issue of safety, when doing something like this, we each have to be mindful and use our own discretion when thinking of anything involving electricity, right? Every manufacturer and Christmas light is different and has different precautions. Also each house is different as far as electrical standards and some homes are already wired dangerously many times unbeknownst to the resident. We know that when dealing with Christmas lights, we must make sure we're using them properly. Indoor and outdoor lights must be used exactly as such. I can never advise someone what to do because not all situations are the same. I can only say to use wisdom, the knowledge you have about your home's electrical system, circuits, outlets, etc,, as well as your God-given instincts. Even if I'm 100% sure, I still take precautions. In this situation we will give the lights a break some nights by using alternative night lighting. Plus, our nursery is shared by the parents so the baby is not alone so we're pretty confident about it all. I hope I've helped. Thank you for your bid.
