Oh holy cow o_0 I'd try to find a postal annex if i was you they trend to be a little cheaper...for example i just mailed a mens sz lg shirt from Oregon to new York it only cost me $2.42... I usually do free shipping on anything lighter than a pound. It tends to be under $4 parcel post...just an idea also with free shipping bids will go much higher...

Poly bags...they don't change shipping and you can get then on here of padded envelopes...occasionally boxes but rarely
