Just to be clear, I don't think you're trying to scam anyone. In fact, you may have a real game and it might just be that the lighting from the camera makes the label look fake. But it would be good for anyone who reads this to know how to identify counterfeits. Also, some counterfeits have a skinny "E" in the ESRB game rating.
Okay well thank you for clearing it up for me! I really, really hope it's not a fake. ): and thank you for trusting that I'm not trying to scam anyone! I'm going to look into it a lot more and see if it is in fact real or fake! It makes me livid that GameStop would sell someone a fake game, they're a game store, the people working there should know better but then again it is all about the money! Again thank you for being so nice and explaining it to me!!!
Just an opinion from a video game store employee, I would say this cartridge IS counterfeit. The lack of foil (shiny) on the label, as well as the words "The Pokemon Company" in the upper left corner make it extremely suspect. To someone who doesn't see several of these daily, it might seem perfectly fine. It probably does play, though there are sure to be glitches. I don't think the owner is trying to rip anyone off, but just didn't know. I wouldn't bid if you want authentic game play, though.
I'll post a picture in a few hours of it being played. If no one wants to believe me I'll put a video on YouTube and leave the link in the description. I promise you I'm not trying to "dupe" anyone! I've played it A LOT so there's NO WAY POSSIBLE it could be fake!!!!!!! Thank you very much!!!!!
I've heard stories of fake games being sold used at Gamestop, unfortunately. And Pokemon games are some of the most counterfeited. Some of them look convincingly read. Real games will have a reflective foil label. Fake games can actually play pretty well... for a while. A dead giveaway that it's a fake is if it says "The game can be played" when you turn it on. That is a message about the internal battery inside that is only found in fake games. When it runs out, your saves will be lost. In a real game, you will still be able to play saved games if its battery runs out, and it will only be clock-based events that won't work.
