i have never seen these before...they look really cool! So are they like real pennies that they were going to release for circulation, but never did...or are they like commemorative pennies?

Yes this is a roll of real pennies. There were only so many made. Some were released, but not many. This roll was signed at the ceremony release by the creator if the cancel stamp seal as seen on the roll. The whole point of getting the seal is for proof that they are from that ceremony and you were unable to get the stamp cancel seal without the purchase of a stamp. The postage stamp on this roll is the Lincoln Politician stamp. The stamp of Lincoln as a politician includes a Feb. 27, 1860, photograph of Lincoln by Mathew Brady, and shows Lincoln debating Stephen A. Douglas during their 1858 campaign for a U.S. Senate seat from Illinois
Chuck Taylor, local Springfield coin collector and official designer of the USPS cancellation postmark the designer of the pictorial USPS cancellation postmark, was at the Post. I was lucky to catch him there when I was there getting my rolls stamped and canceled.

I have more info and links that I can't put here due to listia rules. If you need more info just email me. Thank you and I hope this info helps.

Have a great day. :)

From what I have seen, they are fine if you put links to outside sights, as long as you are not advertising the site. I guess you can't change the description anymore. If you feel comfortable putting the sites under this comment, please do, but if you don't, would you mind emailing me the links? Again, these are really interesting!

I just didn't want to take any chances in getting my auction deleted.

Here is the info I got from the site.

The launch ceremony will be held on Thursday, August 13, 2009 at 10:00 AM CT at the Old State Capitol, 5th & Adams Streets, Springfield, Illinois. Attending the event will be Mint Director Edmund Moy, Senator Dick Durbin, Illinois state officials, and Mayor Tim Davlin.
The coin exchange will be subject to a two roll minimum and six roll maximum. These limits are indicated as subject to change. Children under 18 attending the event will receive a new 2009 Lincoln "Professional Life" Cent for free.

The slow release of the 2009 Lincoln Cents into circulation has been a source of frustration for some and a profit opportunity for others. When the first design was released on February 12, 2009, the coin exchange at the launch ceremony in Hodgenville, Kentucky turned out to be one of the few sources for the new coins. Attendees were able to sell their rolls on venues where prices quickly skyrocketed.

The developing speculative market for 2009 Lincoln Cents contributed to the increased number of people attending the second event in Lincoln City, Indiana to take part in the coin exchange.

At the coin release ceremonies, the exchange limit was lowered from ten rolls to six rolls per person.

The first event had been attended by about 1,500 people and 10,000 rolls of new cents were exchanged. The second event had an estimated 3,000 attendees who exchanged 20,000 rolls of cents. The rolls the were exchanged were not canceled or stamped. That was something that the buyer had to have done and very view had them signed.

The third design design represents Abraham Lincoln's "Professional Life" spent in Illinois from 1830 to 1861. The design depicts a young, professional Lincoln standing in front of the State Capitol building. This reverse was designed by Joel Iskowitz and sculpted by Don Everhart. The obverse of the coin will bear the familiar likeness of Lincoln designed by Victor D. Brenner.

Hey Mozingo! I have tons of old wheats in 2x2 triple holders. I may list another one of these rolls and offer some of them at certain bids. I can't do the Silver dollars, they must be listed alone in hopes that the bids go well,,lol

I have a couple of old silvers listed at this moment. I really don't have any luck doing tiered or bunus listings. Thank you for bidding and I hope you will check out my other listings.

Great day to you. :)
