There are markings on it but I can't quite make out what it says. I would have to take away the original patina and I don't want to ruin it's value. I don't have any other information about it. I was hoping one of are fellow Listians would help us out.

I tried to set it but I couldn't figure out how to do it? Because of this I am not confident it could actually work, but it's still a very nice piece.
