The listing, Mickey Mantle/David Ortiz insert card has ended.
Hi, My name is Kerry and I am new to LISTIA. I am a longtime veteran of Ebay and have a perfect customer feedback score there. Be patient with me while I work toward a great rating here also. Nearly all of my auctions will begin with a minimum bid of 21 in honor of my boyhood hero, Roberto Clemente. Thanks for checking my stuff out and suggestions are welcome!
This is a nice insert card from Topps Heritage and features Mickey Mantle and David Ortiz from the Then and Now subset and is in nearmint condition. Have a favorite baseball or football player? Let me know who they are and I will feature them also.
Questions & Comments
I'd boost this card up on points cause your gonna loose out this cards worth 10 dollars so I'd boost it to like 400
I really appreciate your help since I am new at this. I knew I might take a hit on a few cards but I kinda wanted to test the waters. Thanks for the advice - I am always open to it.
Welcome to Listia, Kerry. It takes a few weeks to really get in the swing of things here. It's not like Ebay. It's more relaxed and there's a lot of collectors on the low end of the spectrum who don't have 1000's of credits to spend. More than a few dealers from Ebay come here and run big number premium auctions and try to keep the same shipping charge structure. Here though, you sell more by offering free shipping. 144 credits is about the equivalent to a 46 cent stamp. 317 credits is about the equivalent of $1. That should give you a foundation for pricing. You won't be able to do GINs (Ebay equivalent of BUY IT NOW) for awhile, but when you do, most everyone will try to bargain free shipping for doing the GIN. Many collectors also expect a bonus with the GIN, but it's not necessary. The GIN is simply a convenience for bidders to insure they get the card or lot they want. The GIN was never intended to be a bargaining tool. Don't be hesitant to start a good card out at an appropriate level. Most bidders, well maybe not most, but a lot know the value of a card or lot and will spend the credits to get something good. Also most bidders don't bid until the final hour or last few minutes so if you run a multi-day auction don't get discouraged that it's not drawing any bids. If a card or lot has more than 1 or 2 watchers, chances are good it will be bid on. Unfortunately, Listia has it's share of scammers. Be wary of anyone without a verified address and it's not a good idea to bid on any auction where the seller has less than a 100% postive feedback rating. You'll get the feel for these things as you progress on here. Fan everyone that fans you or every auction you bid on fan the seller. A strong fan base will increase your auction success. Have fun with this and I wish you success. Any questions don't hesitate to ask. I'm watching this auction and I have fanned you.
Now, THAT WAS HELPFUL information! I can't tell you how much I appreciate the time you took to do that for me. Personally and financially, I am in a situation where I will probably need to ask my bidders to help with shipping on future auctions. My job was eliminated in October and I have not been able to find another yet. I researched a ton of sellers on here who do surprisingly well with the bidders paying for shipping. My structure will be very reasonable and within Listia guidelines. 1 to 4 cards will be $1, 5 to 10 cards will be $2 and 11 or more will be $3. The credit to cash equivalency you provided me is extremely helpful. Thanks so much and I will take all of your advice to heart.
