The listing, RARE HIGH VALUE $5 CALVIN COOLIDGE has ended.

At a time when postage for first class stamps was only 3 cents, $5 stamps were not used that often. This 1938 stamp was the last and highest denomination of the Presidential stamp series. $5 in 1938 was for many people a days wages--for those lucky enough to have a job! The stamp features Calvin Coolidge who was President from 1923 upon the death of Warren G. Harding until 1929. .In addition to the $5 stamp, winner will receive five different 3 or 4 cent commorative stamps!

Questions & Comments

Coolidge's young son would get a blister playing tennis on the White House court that became infected. This being a period prior to antibiotics, the infection would cost him his life. This tragedy led him to not seek re-election.
